As I leave my twenties

As I leave my twenties I look back & feel happy about things. I have little regrets and lots of adventures under my belt. I fell in love three times, I traveled the world (but not enough), I opened a home based business, I got many tattoos, I’ve had one too many drinks and took a year & a half off to be completely sober.

I met a couple of amazing guys who could have been amazing boyfriends & I let my heart decide to let them go. I’ve said goodbye to old friends when things felt wrong and I’ve gained many beautiful souls. I’ve forgiven a lot.

I have embraced that I am not yet a grown up. I do not own a house, I do not have children, I am not married… yet.

I’ve enjoyed being single…. living on my own, saying I love you to my self, and learned very early that happiness & self love is important!

I’ve owned 2 cars and 2 fish. I’ve lived in a house with 5 men & a house with 2 women. I’ve lived with 2 boyfriends (and soon I’ll officially say 3). I’ve lived with 4 cooks (my mom and brother included) which was delicious! I’ve lived with my brother 2 times and same with my parents (until they moved away).

Life in my twenties sure has been fun.

So, I do have some advice for all the future twenty-year-old:

  • Love! Fall in love. With yourself especially!
  • If you can travel, travel, travel. This world of ours is a giant playground. Travel is the best education.
  • Take a year off of drinking (if you do).
  • Listen to your heart
  • Speak up for yourself
  • Vote!
  • Hold the door open for others.
  • Make big dreams. Write lists. See what you are capable of! It’s a lot!
  • Go to school or open a business and always follow your dreams. Do it for yourself.
  • Please remember to be silly!
  • Enjoy all of the little things.
  • Live life BIG!
  • Any time an adventure presents itself… take it!
  • Even if your friends hate you for it (like mine do) take MANY pictures!
  • Go on road trips!
  • Make a yearly tradition with your friends
  • Don’t listen to those people who say your dreams are too ambitious. Be passionate.
  • Go to many concerts! Live music is good for the soul.
  • Support each other. Be kind even if you don’t understand… we are all on a journey!
  • If you do have children or get married then make sure to still include all of these things! Share joy with your loved ones.

There are many people in my life who have achieved bigger dreams, ran marathons, became world famous, or started a family. That is part of their journey, not mine. At least… not yet!

I have no idea what the thirties are going to bring me but I can leave my twenties with a big happy smile.

Sending love to each and everyone of you. Your journey in life is BEAUTIFUL!

XO
